Saying 21 | Arm Yourself with Counsel & Strength
Proverbs 24:5–6 (NASB 1995)
“A wise man is strong,And a man of knowledge increases power. For by wise guidance you will wage war,And in abundance of counselors there is victory.”
πΈ Intro — The Training Session
Lady Wisdom gathered four women in a bright open room with a large banner stretched across the wall that read:
“WISDOM TRAINING ACADEMY: Strength for the Battles of Life.”
The women entered — each carrying her own kind of strength, her own kind of struggle.
Lady Wisdom smiled.
“Daughters, every one of you is fighting something — a battle of patience, a battle of confidence, a battle of endurance, or a battle of focus.
Today’s lesson is simple: You don’t win battles by emotion or willpower alone.
You win them by wisdom, counsel, and strength that come from God.”
π‘ Meaning of the Saying
Lady Wisdom pointed to the verse on the board.
“A wise man is strong — that means strength begins in the mind before it shows in the muscles.
And a man of knowledge increases power — wisdom multiplies strength because it teaches you how to fight, not just why.
‘By wise guidance you wage war’ — that’s strategy. Don’t rush into life’s battles without consulting God or godly people.
‘In abundance of counselors there is victory’ — this means you were never meant to fight alone.”
π¬ Matthew Henry said, “A wise man, by the strength of his reason and the experience of others, is truly strong.”
π¬ Charles Spurgeon added, “He that will not be counseled cannot be helped. But he that seeks wise guidance shall not be overthrown.”
π Lady Wisdom’s Teaching
“Daughters, strength is not loud — it’s learned.
Counsel is not weakness — it’s wisdom.God gives us three layers of strength:
π‘️ His Word — our unchanging truth.
π€ Godly Counsel — voices that correct and confirm.
π Inner Discipline — the courage to apply what we’ve learned.”
She paused and looked at each woman.
“You’re all in training — not for show, but for survival.”
π¬ The Four Women Speak
πΏ 1️⃣ The First Woman Spoke Quietly:
“I’ve always avoided confrontation. I thought strength meant aggression.
But now I see that quiet resolve, guided by wisdom, can be stronger than shouting.
I’m learning that staying calm under pressure is also a weapon.”
π 2️⃣ The Second Woman Looked Thoughtful:
“I used to overthink every decision, afraid of making the wrong one.
But I’ve realized that godly counsel doesn’t remove responsibility — it strengthens it.
Now I listen, pray, and move forward with peace.”
πΈ 3️⃣ The Third Woman Spoke with Energy:
“I love people and ideas, but I sometimes leap before I look.
Lady Wisdom taught me that enthusiasm without direction is energy wasted.
Now, before I start anything new, I ask — ‘Lord, who should guide me in this?’”
πͺ 4️⃣ The Fourth Woman Smiled Boldly:
“I thought asking for help meant weakness — but I was wrong.
Godly counsel doesn’t shrink my strength; it sharpens it.
Victory isn’t solo — it’s shared with those who walk in wisdom.”
✨ Lady Wisdom’s Reflection
Lady Wisdom clapped her hands softly.
“Well done, daughters.
Today you’ve learned that real warriors aren’t those who fight first —
but those who listen, plan, and move in unity.”
She pointed to the banner once more:
“By wise guidance you will wage war.”
“Life will give you battles — but you don’t fight them alone.
Stand shield to shield. Pray together. Plan wisely. The Testudo was powerful because every soldier protected another.
Wisdom works the same way — we cover each other in counsel, prayer, encouragement and love.”
πΏ Lesson Takeaway — Wisdom Wins Wars
“Strength without wisdom is noise.
Wisdom without counsel is risk.
But strength + wisdom + counsel = VICTOY.”
“By wisdom a house is built… and by wise counsel you wage war.” — Proverbs 24:3,6
πΈ Closing Encouragement
Lady Wisdom smiled as the women prepared to leave.
“Daughters, every battle you face — at home, at work, or within — can be won through wisdom.
Seek God’s counsel first, surround yourself with wise women,
and never mistake silence for weakness or gentleness for defeat.Go forth, strong and steady — trained, tested, and triumphant.”

Go Deep:
What “shield” (Prayer, Counsel, Scripture, or Unity) do you need to lift higher this week?
This week, I need to lift the shield of Scripture higher. I’m realizing how much I depend on God’s Word to steady my heart and guide my steps. When I neglect it, I feel the difference, I become more distracted, more easily swayed. But when I fill my mind and heart with Scripture, it strengthens me from within. God’s Word not only protects me from straying but also reminds me who I am and Whose I am.
Thank you Sister Penny for your daily dedication to the Proverbs.

The scripture that comes to me is Psalm 28:7
Which states the lord is my strength and my shield , my heart trust in him ..
I am reminded daily that it doesn’t matter what the devil throws at me , I am to not give him any power .. life throws some curve balls at you at times , and sometimes you get the urge to lean into them , I must continue to press on knowing that I should trust God wholeheartedly..
sister Gale thanks for this ..

The shield that I need to lift higher this week is counsel, especially from veteran teachers, as I navigate some challenges with a student.
Hope everyone sleeps well :)
