π‘ Saying 20 | Establish Homes by Wisdom
Proverbs 24:3–4 (NASB 1995)
“By wisdom a house is built,And by understanding it is established; And by knowledge the rooms are filledWith all precious and pleasant riches.”
πΈ Intro — Shopping for the Home
Lady Wisdom greeted the women with a smile.
“Daughters, imagine today we’re going shopping — not for dΓ©cor, but for discernment.
Not for furniture, but for faith.
Every home you see may look beautiful on the outside, but what gives it lasting peace is what’s inside.”
She lifted a small woven basket.
“We often shop for things to fill our rooms — curtains, cushions, or colors that make us feel settled.
But God says there’s another kind of filling: wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.
Those are the treasures that never wear out.”
π‘ Meaning of the Saying
This proverb isn’t only about building a physical house — it’s about establishing a home that stands strong in faith and love.
By wisdom a house is built: Wisdom chooses the right foundation — God’s truth first, everything else second.
By understanding it is established: Understanding gives stability — it means learning how to live peacefully with those under your roof.
By knowledge the rooms are filled: Knowledge fills the home with the riches of truth, kindness, and joy.
π¬ Matthew Henry wrote,
“Wisdom builds the house, understanding keeps it up, and knowledge adorns it.”
Lady Wisdom continued:
“You may have the nicest furniture, but without patience and prayer, the home feels empty.
You may have little materially, but when love and godly understanding dwell there, every room glows.”
π Lady Wisdom’s “Shopping List” for a Wise Home
She opened her notebook and read aloud:
π Wisdom — The Foundation
Buy godly priorities. Choose truth over trends.
π Understanding — The Structure
Buy empathy. Listen before speaking. See before judging.
π Knowledge — The Furnishings
Buy insight. Learn how to make peace, handle conflict, and teach truth.
✨ Character — The DΓ©cor
Buy humility. It never goes out of style.
“These are the things that fill the rooms of your soul — not chandeliers or cushions, but grace, gentleness, and gratitude.”
π Four Reflection Statements:
(One reflects your primary temperament —share it in the comments below by typing or copying and paste it.)
1️⃣ “I’m learning that peace in my home grows when I slow down and bring calm instead of control.”
2️⃣ “I’ve realized a beautiful home isn’t about perfection — it’s about creating space for grace and truth.”
3️⃣ “I love making things lovely, but I’m learning that joy lasts longer when laughter and prayer fill the air.”
4️⃣ “I used to think leading meant deciding, but wisdom shows me leading also means listening.”
πΏ Closing — More Than a House
Lady Wisdom smiled as the women packed their “spiritual shopping bags.”
“Daughters, you don’t need a new house to build a new atmosphere.
Start where you are — buy patience, stock up on peace, and decorate with kindness.
The richest homes aren’t measured by what’s in them,
but by Who is welcome there.”
“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established.” — Proverbs 24:3
