April 19 – April 25 - 📖 Weekly Bible Journey | Days 109–115

This week may feel heavy in places, but do not miss the mercy of God in the midst of it.

Even when people are inconsistent, God remains faithful.
Even when the story is painful, the Lord is still at work.

Pray simply:
“Lord, help me to see Your faithfulness even in difficult chapters.”

🌿 Weekly Overview

This week takes us through the closing chapters of Judges and into the opening chapters of Ruth. In Judges 9–21, we see the spiritual and moral decline of Israel in sobering detail. These chapters remind us of the danger of living without wholehearted submission to God. Then, in Ruth 1–2, the tone shifts beautifully as we begin to see God’s quiet providence at work in the lives of ordinary people.

In Acts 20–26, Paul continues his ministry journey and then gives his defense before rulers and leaders. Though he faces hardship and accusation, the gospel continues to be proclaimed boldly and clearly.

The Psalms (109–115) include cries for help, declarations of God’s greatness, and heartfelt praise. They remind us to keep looking to the Lord, whose name alone deserves glory.

COMPASSION (Week 3) A-Z PRAISES TO GOD

Week 3 — C: Compassionate

Warm greetings, dear sisters.

Thank you for journeying through Week 2 — Good with us. I pray that as you reflected on the goodness of God, your heart was encouraged and strengthened. May that truth continue to remain with you in the days ahead.

As we move into Week 3, let us continue one step at a time. Whether you are returning, catching up, or joining us for the first time, you are warmly welcome. Let us keep drawing near to the Lord with open hearts.

How to Use This Study

This study is meant to help you spend meaningful time with God, not to feel heavy or burdensome. You are welcome to use it in the way that best fits your schedule and season.

You may choose to follow the suggested weekly flow and move through it little by little during the week. You may begin on another day if Sunday or Monday does not work well for you. Or, if you prefer, you may set aside about an hour and do the full study in one sitting.

The day breakdown is simply there to give structure and make the study feel more manageable. Please feel free to use it in the way that helps you draw near to the Lord most sincerely.

You may also wish to consider setting aside one day each week to fast, as you are able, and use that week’s PROMPTS study as your guide during your time with the Lord. This is completely optional, but it can be a beautiful way to slow down, focus your heart, meditate on His Word, and praise Him more intentionally.

Whether you spread it out through the week, complete it in one sitting, or use it during a fast day, let this study serve as a guide to help you know God more, honour Him more, and praise Him more personally.

Take your time with each section. There is no need to rush. Let each truth lead you into praise, prayer, and reflection.

C — Compassionate

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.”
— Psalm 103:8

Focus for this week:
Receiving, trusting, and reflecting the compassion of God.

SUNDAY OR MONDAY

P — Prayer

As you settle down each day to begin this study, take a moment to ask the Lord to open your heart to see Him clearly and to respond to Him sincerely. Ask Him to help you know Him as He truly is, to set aside distractions, and to come before Him with discipline and reverence. These are simply suggestions—feel free to speak to the Lord from your heart as He leads you.

You are coming before the compassionate God—who sees your weakness, knows your needs, and responds with mercy.

R — Read (Suggestion: memorize these verses. Read them aloud 2–3 times and return to them throughout the day.)

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.”
— Psalm 103:8

“Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.” — Psalm 103:13

This Week's Proverbs:
“He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker, but he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.”
— Proverbs 14:31

O — Observe

Psalm 103 is a psalm of praise in which David calls his soul to remember the Lord’s benefits and character.

  • God’s compassion is part of who He is
  • His compassion is joined with grace, patience, and lovingkindness
  • God does not deal harshly with His people, but tenderly
  • His compassion flows from His understanding of our weakness

Let’s pray:

Lord, thank You that You are compassionate. Help me to know Your tenderness, trust Your heart, and rest in Your mercy today. Amen.

That is enough for today. Continue tomorrow, God willing.

TUESDAY–THURSDAY

M — Meaning

Compassionate (Hebrew: rachum)

  • Compassionate, merciful, full of tender pity
  • Carries the idea of deep mercy, tender care, and heartfelt concern

Meaning:
God is not distant or cold toward His people. He is tenderhearted, merciful, and moved with compassion toward those who call on Him.

Commentary Insight:
Matthew Henry notes that God’s compassion is like that of a loving father who pities his children, remembering both their weakness and their need.

P — Practice (Personal Application)

🕊️ Now respond with praise:
“Lord, I love You because You are compassionate.
I honour You because You are tender and merciful toward me.
You do not treat me as my sins deserve, but You deal with me in mercy.
You understand my weakness and You care for me with kindness.
I praise You because Your compassion is steady, gentle, and unfailing.”

Continue in your own words:
Take a moment and continue to praise God for being compassionate.

  • Thank Him for ways He has shown you mercy (name them to Him)
  • Tell Him where you need His compassion today
  • Bring before Him any weakness, sorrow, or struggle
  • Thank Him that He sees you fully and still responds with tenderness
  • Ask Him to help you reflect His compassion toward others

Personal Application:
Where do you especially need to receive God’s compassion right now?
Bring that place honestly before Him.

You may pray:
“Lord, I bring You ________. Thank You for meeting me with compassion and mercy.”

Look for this this week:
Where have you seen the compassion of God at work in your life—or through someone else?

Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your tender mercy toward me. Teach me to rest in Your compassion and to extend that same compassion to others. Amen.

Continue tomorrow, God willing.

FRIDAY–SATURDAY

T — Thanksgiving

As you come to this time of thanksgiving, take a moment to thank the Lord for His compassion. Thank Him for His patience, His mercy, and the tenderness He has shown to you. These are simply suggestions—feel free to thank Him in your own words for whatever is on your heart.

💬 Gentle Encouragement

This week invites us to stay anchored in God’s faithfulness even as seasons change.

In Acts 13–19, the gospel continues to spread through Paul’s missionary journeys. These chapters are full of preaching, opposition, miracles, conversions, and the steady advance of the message of Christ into new regions.

The Psalms (102–108) move through prayer, praise, remembrance, and confidence in God’s covenant love. They help steady the heart and keep our attention fixed on the Lord.

A–Z PRAISES TO GOD

A Journey Through the Attributes of God in Prayer

A Spring and Summer Journey Through the Attributes of God
Learning who He is and praising Him in prayer

Week 1 — A: Almighty

Warm greetings, dear sisters.

Welcome to the beginning of our A–Z Praises to God journey. I am so glad you are here.

As we step into this first week together, my prayer is that this will not simply be another study, but a meaningful time of drawing closer to the Lord—learning who He is and responding to Him in praise.

We begin with A — Almighty—a powerful reminder that nothing is too hard for God. Whatever you may be carrying, facing, or wondering about, He is able. (What a timely reminder.)

As you move through this week, take your time. There is no pressure to do everything perfectly. Come with an open heart, and allow the Lord to meet you where you are.

Whether you follow the suggested flow, complete it in one sitting, or return to it throughout the week, may this be a time of refreshing, strengthening, and deepening your relationship with Him.

Let us begin.

A — Almighty (El Shaddai)

“I am God Almighty; walk before Me and be blameless.” — Genesis 17:1

Focus for this week:
Seeing and trusting God as Almighty.

You are coming before the Almighty God—who sees you, knows you, and cares for you.

R — Read (Suggestion: memorize these verses. Read them aloud 2–3 times and return to them throughout the day.)

“I am God Almighty; walk before Me and be blameless.” — Genesis 17:1

“Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You.” — Jeremiah 32:17

Today’s Proverbs:
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.” — Proverbs 18:10

O — Observe

God appears to Abraham when he is 99 years old. The promise of a son has not yet been fulfilled, and Sarah is past childbearing age.

In this moment of human impossibility, God reveals Himself as El Shaddai—God Almighty, reaffirming His covenant and promising what only divine power can accomplish.

  • God reveals Himself in the middle of impossibility
  • His name speaks directly to Abraham’s situation
  • His power is connected to His promises

Let’s pray:

Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself to me as Almighty. Help me to remember today that nothing is too hard for You. Teach me to trust You in every situation. Amen.

That is enough for today. Continue tomorrow, God willing.

TUESDAY–THURSDAY

M — Meaning

El Shaddai

  • El = God, the Mighty One
  • Shaddai = Almighty, All-sufficient, All-powerful

Meaning:
God is more than enough—able to supply, sustain, and accomplish what no one else can.

Commentary Insight:
Matthew Henry notes that God reveals Himself as Almighty to assure Abraham that He is fully able to fulfill His promises.

A helpful summary from biblical commentary is that by the name “God Almighty,” God reveals Himself as the One who is fully able to carry out His promises despite all human impossibilities.

P — Practice (Personal Application)

🕊️ Now respond with praise:
“Lord, I love You because You are Almighty.
I honour You because nothing is too hard for You.
You are powerful over every situation, seen and unseen.
There is no limit to what You can do, and nothing can stand against Your will.
I praise You because You are greater than every challenge I face, and I can rest in Your power.
You are more than enough in every area of my life.”

Continue in your own words:
Take a moment and continue to praise God for being Almighty.

  • Tell Him why this matters to you
  • Tell Him where you need His power
  • Tell Him how you trust Him in your life
  • Thank Him for times He has already shown His power to you (name them to Him)
  • Declare your confidence in Him over what you are facing (name those situations to Him)
  • Surrender anything that feels impossible to you (name it to Him)

Personal Application:
Where do you need God’s power in your life today?
Place that situation in His hands.

You may pray:
“Lord, I trust You with ________. I place it in Your hands because You are Almighty.”

Look for this today:
Where do you see God’s power at work—big or small?

Closing Prayer (Optional):
Lord, help me to trust Your power and rest in Your promises. Strengthen my faith where I feel weak, and teach me to depend on You in all things. Amen.

Continue tomorrow, God willing.

FRIDAY–SATURDAY

T — Thanksgiving

As you come to this time of thanksgiving, take a moment to thank the Lord for being Almighty. Thank Him that nothing in your life is beyond His power. Thank Him for the ways He has already shown Himself strong on your behalf. These are simply suggestions—feel free to thank Him in your own words for whatever is on your heart.

S — Share (Below on this blog)

Type or copy and paste one of the options below, or share your own:

  • Today I praise God because He is Almighty.
  • Today I honour God as the Almighty One.
  • Today I bless God because nothing is too hard for Him.
  • Today I worship God for His mighty power.
  • Today I thank God that He is more than enough for me.

(Optional:)
You may also share what you are trusting Him with:
I trust Him with ________.

Even a simple expression of trust is meaningful.

Conclusion

Speak It Back to God Prayerfully

“You are Almighty, Lord. Nothing is too hard for You.”
— Jeremiah 32:17

Say it slowly. Say it again. Let it settle in your heart.

Pause and Listen

Be still for a few moments and allow the Lord to minister to your heart.

Remember as you go…

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.” — Proverbs 18:10
