Proverbs 18 – What Are Your Words Saying About You?
Hello, Wisdom Seekers 👋🏽
Welcome back to our daily transformation journey through Proverbs—where each chapter holds a mirror to our hearts, habits, and hidden temperaments.
Today’s stop: Proverbs 18.
And oh, what a chapter it is! It doesn’t just nudge us—it convicts us right in the mouth. Literally.
📍 Before you scroll any further, pause and reflect:
🗣️ What has your mouth been saying about your temperament lately?
Are your words nurturing? Are they life-giving? Are they aligned with wisdom?
📖 Scripture Focus
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
— Proverbs 18:21 (NASB)
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
— Proverbs 18:21 (NASB)
Let that settle in.
The tongue is not neutral. It’s always planting—either life or destruction.
And the fruit it bears reveals the root of your temperament.
So here’s the heart question:
Are your words evidence of a transformed temperament—or do they echo your old nature?

Two words that would reflect how I want to speak .
🌺1 . Humble it’s something I always ask God for , I have seen first hand what getting ahead of yourself can do to a person .
🌺2.Uplifting I always want to be in a position where I can uplift someone , I don’t believe in tearing others down , always look for a way to speak life .

Proverbs 18:24
[24] One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Today I chose Truthful and Loving.
Truthful: I always want to be truthful with myself and others. I believe that as a believer it is my duty to remain honest with people. It may not always be what others want to hear but it is how I believe God wants me to live.
Loving: while speaking the truth is great and all, bringing it across in a loving way can be a challenge. I believe I have experience this quite a bit in the past and if am being truthful they are times it shows its ugly little head in some situations. Loving because that's the persona that Christ would like me to be reform into at all times; and I believe we all love to be approach in a loving manner.. Not being tactless as I use to be.
Have a great day in the ☀️🌞
Sister Tessie, I really admire your choice of truthful and loving—they truly go hand in hand.
DeleteSister Tessie,
DeleteI’ve known you for a while now 🙂, and reading what you shared truly blessed me. The fact that you desire to grow in being both truthful and loving is so commendable. These are qualities that reflect the heart of Christ. I pray that God will grant you the desires of your heart and continue to shape you in these areas. May your words always carry both honesty and grace, and may His love shine through you more and more each day. Keep growing—He’s doing a beautiful work in you.

ReplyDeleteProverbs 18 – What Are Your Words Saying About You?
Two words that reflect my desired speech going forward:
Thoughtful
I chose Thoughtful because I want my words to be guided by care, wisdom, and understanding. Proverbs 18:13 says, “To answer before listening—that is folly and shame.” This reminds me to pause, listen deeply, and speak only after truly understanding, so my speech honors others and reflects God’s wisdom.
Encouraging
I chose Encouraging because I want my words to build others up and bring life. Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” I desire my speech to be a source of hope, comfort, and strength—words that uplift and inspire others in their journey.
What I am asking God to change in me:
Lord, help me grow in patience and self-control so I can be truly thoughtful and listen carefully before I speak. Teach me to use my words to encourage and bless others, not to criticize or tear down. Shape my heart so that my speech reflects Your love and power to bring life.
Have a wonderful day!
Sister Cindy,
DeleteWhen I read the two words you chose, I couldn’t help but smile—aww 🙂. Though we’ve never met in person, your posts paint a beautiful picture of who you are. The fact that you desire to grow in being thoughtful and encouraging is such a wonderful reflection of Christ’s heart.
This part of your prayer truly resonated with me:
“Shape my heart so that my speech reflects Your love and power to bring life.”
What a powerful and sincere desire. I join you in that prayer, and I ask that God’s perfect will be done in your life. May He continue to use you as a vessel of life-giving words and uplifting encouragement.
Be blessed, my sister. Keep shining.

There are two words God has been placing on my heart lately: Patient and Humble.
Patient
Last night during Bible Study, I shared how patient is one fruit of the Spirit I truly desire to grow in. I tend to want things to happen immediately. I often find myself rushing ahead, wanting answers, solutions, and breakthroughs right away.
But in recent days, even weeks, I’ve noticed something different. God has been creating opportunities for me to practice patient. At first, I didn’t recognize them as such, but the more I prayed about it, the more I realized: these were divine invitations to slow down, trust, and wait well.
I don’t want to resist these moments anymore. I want to embrace them with grace and allow God to do His work in me as I wait.
Humble
Romans 12:3 has become personal to me. Years ago, during a conversation with one of my siblings, they gently pointed out this verse to me. To them, I wasn’t being humble. And deep down, I knew they were right—but pride kept me from admitting it.
Since that day, I’ve been praying that God would humble me in my walk with Him. And He has. I've gone through some truly humbling experiences. None of them were easy, but all of them were necessary.
What I’ve learned is that pride can sneak in so easily. It doesn’t always look loud or arrogant; sometimes it’s in our silent comparisons, our need to have the last word, or our unwillingness to be corrected.
Lately, I’ve noticed small moments of growth. I might be in the middle of a conversation, ready to say something, and I feel that gentle nudge from the Holy Spirit: “Stay quiet.” And I obey. That’s a big deal for me. And it’s a sign that God is truly at work in my heart.
Blessings On Your Day!!!
Good. Morning every one

ReplyDeleteHello Ladies,
ReplyDelete✨🌻✨
I'd first like to say, what a timely reflection. In Bible Studies yesterday I said I don't believe I am a Sanguine/Phlegmatic based on my responses to things, and with this Proverbs reflection I truly believe I am Sanguine/ Choleric because I am quick to frustration, want things done in a hurry and the list can go on.
In regards to how I would like to speak, my 2 words would be PATIENT and GRACIOUS.
On this journey of mine, I've found I'm quick to get frustrated especially if I ask for help but it is not done in the time frame I'd like. I can easily forget that my task isn't as urgent as I make it out to be. I also chose the word GRACIOUS as I need to extend favor, compassion and mercy onto others if they don't meet my expectations or standards. Plus in order to grow, I have to remove my expectation of others and remind myself that they are processing and will grow too.
Sister Cassy come along side them .. it works .. thanks for sharing ..

Word Bank (Spirit-Led Talk Goals) Encouraging
I choose the words Wise and Encouraging
I would like the words I speak in the future, to be edifying and uplifting to the hearers including myself.
I want when someone leave my presence, leave with a smile on their face, and ti feel lighted because they just had a meaningful conversation. May my words be seasoned with salt.

Hello Sisters,
ReplyDeleteMy two Spirit-led talk goals are “discerning” and “faith-filled.”
I chose these words because I want my speech to reflect the wisdom of God (discerning), and I want my words to be rooted in trust and confidence in Him (faith-filled). More than anything, I desire that my conversations be soaked in His wisdom and marked by a deep dependence on His guidance.
🕊️ “The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom…” — Proverbs 10:31
