✨ A simple daily reflection to help us listen
more carefully to God and to one another.
_________________________________________
Welcome, dear sisters — thank you for taking a few moments in your busy day to pause, listen, and grow in wisdom together.
Last week we reflected on how we listen through the book of Proverbs. Some of us noticed we listen carefully, others quickly, and sometimes with distraction or resistance.
This week we will continue the journey by reflecting on W.I.S.E. Listening.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
March 8 — Day 67
📖 Today’s Proverb: Proverbs 1:5
- Let the wise hear and increase in learning.
The W.I.S.E. Listening Styles
Four ways people tend to listen:
⚖️ W — Weigh the truth
👂 I — Interpret the meaning
❤️ S — Sense the heart
➡️ E — Execute the wisdom
Over the next several days we will reflect on each of these together.
Please try to follow the reflections day by day, rather than reading everything at once, so you can pause and allow the Lord to speak to you along the way.
For today, pause for a moment and consider:
Which part of W.I.S.E. feels most natural to you right now?
⚖️ W — Weigh the truth
👂 I — Interpret the meaning
❤️ S — Sense the heart
➡️ E — Execute the wisdom
Simply post the letter (W.I.S. OR E) that comes to mind in the chat.
Ladies, LISTEN, that's it for today! Come back tomorrow God willing to continue.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
March 9 — Day 68
⚖️ W — Weigh the Truth
📖 Today’s Proverb: Proverbs 14:15
- “The simple believes everything,
but the prudent gives thought to his steps.”
Some listeners naturally weigh what they hear.
They pause and ask:
- Is this wise?
- Is this true?
- Does it align with God’s Word?
Reflect — Choose one
1️⃣ When I hear advice or instruction, do I take time to weigh it carefully?
2️⃣ Do I compare what I hear with Scripture and godly wisdom?
3️⃣ Who in my life models this kind of discerning listening?

March 10 — Day 69
👂 I — Interpret the Meaning
📖 Today’s Proverb: Proverbs 2:2
- “Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
incline your heart to understanding.”
Some listeners pause before responding. They want to understand the message fully—its meaning, context, and intent.
Reflect — Choose one
1️⃣ Do I seek to understand fully before responding?
2️⃣ Do I sometimes assume I understand when I may not?
3️⃣ How might slowing down help me listen more wisely?

March 11 — Day 70
❤️ S — Sense the Heart
📖 Today’s Proverb: Proverbs 15:28
- “The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer.”
Some listeners notice tone, emotions, and what may be unspoken. They sense the heart behind the words.
Reflect — Choose one
1️⃣ When someone speaks, do I notice their feelings or tone?
2️⃣ Do people feel heard when they talk with me?
3️⃣ Who in my life listens with compassion and care?

March 12 — Day 71
➡️ E — Execute the Wisdom
📖 Today’s Proverb: Proverbs 1:33
- “But whoever listens to me will dwell securely
and will be at ease from the dread of evil.”
In Scripture, listening often leads to obedience. When wisdom is clear, wise listeners respond.
Reflect — Choose one
1️⃣ When God speaks through His Word, do I move toward obedience?
2️⃣ Do I delay acting on wisdom I already understand?
3️⃣ What might God be inviting me to do with what I have heard?

March 14 — Day 73
Today is "Sharing Time" on the Blog
✨ We’d love to hear from you.
After reflecting this week and taking the quiz, take a moment to share in the blog comments:
- Which two listening tendencies best describe you?
- Which part of W.I.S.E. encouraged or challenged you most?
Your reflections may encourage someone else on the journey.
Thank you for walking through this week together.
to listen with wisdom.
Good Morning Ladies,
ReplyDeleteHope all is well.
Sister Penny thank you for this exercise. It’s indeed causing me to focus on my listening.
Question: Which two listening tendencies best describe you?
Answer:
1. S — Sense the Heart...... The Compassionate Listener
2. E — Execute the Wisdom..... The Action-Oriented Listener
Question: Which part of W.I.S.E. encouraged or challenged you most?
I would say E — Execute the Wisdom, the Action-Oriented Listener, challenged me the most.
About three weeks ago, Psalm 85 came to mind. As I began to read it, verse 8a really stood out to me: “I will listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways.”
At that moment, I felt that God was speaking to me about listening carefully. Since then, this verse has become my prayer almost every morning—to listen carefully to my family and to others, and most importantly, to God.
I’m learning that I need to get out of the “fix-it lane” and first listen for the wisdom the Lord wants me to hear.
Have a Great Day!!
Sis Debbie, I can relate to the fix-it lane. Such peace we find when we listen to what He wants us to hear,. I’m glad the verse you shared included “let them not return back to their foolish ways.” He’s working on me and all of us!
DeleteThanks for sharing sis D 🙏 move to the" LORD fix it lane "😊
DeleteGood morning,
ReplyDeleteMy listening tendencies were W - the discerning listener and S - the compassionate listener. I found this quiet interesting due to the fact that my husband is Melancholic and the discerning listener is often described as a Melancholic.. I am a Sanguine/Choleric. I found this encouraging because of the positive influence my husband has had on me, he asks the right questions and get me to talk more deeply and I believe that this has been helping me ask better questions and grow in my relationships. So BIG UPS to MY MAN <3! And thank you Mrs. Penny for pointing this out to me with these questions and birthing my man LOL :P
The W.I.S.E. question that encouraged me the most and challenged me was I- interpret the meaning.
Blessings y'all
Thanks for sharing, Cass P. I love that you’re choosing to connect through your husband—keep leaning into that. Sometimes the very people who can help bring out the best in us are the ones we tend to avoid. Yet those relationships can be a real gift when we allow them to shape and strengthen us. 😊
DeleteGreat sharing sis 🙏
DeleteBlessed morning Ladies ,
ReplyDeleteThank You LG,For the push to put
Proverbs 1:15 into practice -
Let the wise hear and increase in learning .
After completing the quizz the two listening tendencies best describe me
W — Weigh the Truth
The Discerning Listener
I — Interpret the Meaning
The Reflective Listener
What was really interesting to me is the
Temperament connection with the
W I S E listening tendencies.
As a person a with a Melancholic temperament ,there are
some traits that just naturally flow out of me without any thought,
so I act the way that I do which can sometimes be frustrating for
Some listeners.
For example I do have to tendency when conversation with someone
I ask a lots of questions not because I am nosy as have been
Labeled before ,but just to help me
Properly asses the situation, my brain by default is always searching for more details ..lol (Only a few ? makes it's way out though)
Which part of W.I.S.E. encouraged or challenged you most?
I would say ,the challenge for me is to
Trying not to spend to much time trying to capture the exactly
What is been said before guiding to the next step of
taking action .
Lord thank you for the awareness of the different ways of
Wise listening .
help me to listen more with discernment
and grace .
Happy Saturday Ladies 🌺
Sister Alynthia, you are so right. It’s amazing how many things we do just by default without even realizing it. This was really enlightening. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday Ladies,
ReplyDeleteListening with wisdom
The two listening tendencies that best describe me are:
W-weigh the truth. For this one, when I am in conversation I can hear myself asking, if I am hearing the truth?
The next is I-interpret the meaning. This one I question do I truly understand what was said.
I think E-Execute wisdom describes me also. When someone tells me what is going on with them I automatically think of what can be done or how can I help.
This week’s listening with wisdom challenged me to slow down and pay closer attention to how I listen, when I read the word of God or in conversation. I learned that listening is not only hearing, it includes obedience to what I hear.
Have a super Saturday!
Good day everyone.
ReplyDeleteAfter doing the quiz these are the two listening tendencies that best describe me.
W- Weigh the truth
E - Execute the Wisdom

Hello everyone,
ReplyDeleteAfter reflecting this week and taking the quiz, the two listening tendencies that best describe me.
S- Sence the Heart
I – Interpret the Meaning
Thank you, Sister Penny, for helping us understand the different ways how to listen.
Have a bless night.
Goodnight everyone,
ReplyDeleteAfter completing the quiz, the two listening tendencies that best describe me are
Weigh the truth and Interpret the meaning - which both describe me well :)
The part of WISE that encouraged me was Sensing the Heart, as I desire for people to feel heard and understood when talking with me and I want to listen with care and compassion - and not just listen to respond and offer a solution.
Thank you Sister Pens, and a good sleep to all!
Good nite everyone,
ReplyDeleteAfter reflecting and taking the quiz the two tendencies for me are:
I - The Reflective listener
W - The Discerning listener
I was encouraged by the letter I which brought me to thinking why I always try to understand what the person is saying to me which often leads to asking questions as the conversation goes deeper. Realizing now that is a natural tendencies.
Lady Gale thanks and all the work and different activities you do with the Proverbs are greatly appreciated.
Restful sleep 😴
