🌿 Temperament Topic:Strength with Surrender
— Yielding the Melancholic/Choleric Blend to the Holy Spirit

Good day, Wisdom Seekers! πŸ‘‹πŸΎ

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared reflections and prayers yesterday for our Phlegmatic/Melancholic sisters. πŸ’š Your thoughtful words truly lifted hearts and strengthened our fellowship!

✨ Just a gentle reminder: this is a daily journey. There’s no pressure to catch up — just stay present and participate today. You’re always welcome to return and post reflections from previous days as you’re led.

πŸ“… Today, May 9, we’re focusing on the πŸ”΅πŸ”΄ Melancholic/Choleric blend. Let’s be intentional in offering grace, encouragement, and understanding to the sisters with this unique blend of strength and structure.

πŸ‘ Sisters with this blend:

Cindy, Glenda, and Theresa

Let’s cover them in prayer and encouragement today.

πŸ” Understanding the Melancholic/Choleric Temperament

  • To understand a Melancholic/Choleric is to meet a woman who carries both depth and drive. She is analytical and reflective, yet determined and action-oriented. This powerful blend can make her a force for good—one who not only sees what needs fixing but has the strength and strategy to do something about it. Yet, beneath the strong exterior often lies a quiet storm of inner expectations, silent pressures, and deep convictions. Her journey of transformation is not just about doing less but about trusting more—learning to lean not on her own understanding, but on the Spirit who leads with grace and truth.

πŸ’ͺ Strengths:

  • Disciplined • Focused • Principled • Productive • Deeply committed to truth and excellence

⚠️ Growth Areas:

  • May struggle with rigidity, inner criticism, high expectations, and emotional distance. Frustration can rise when plans are disrupted.

πŸ•Š️ Why Yielding Matters:

  • This blend often feels responsible for “making things happen.” But true transformation begins when they move from performance to dependence on God. Yielding to the Holy Spirit brings rest, softens their intensity, and fills their leadership with grace.

πŸ’‘ Core Needs:
  • Respect • Order • Appreciation • Meaningful work that brings improvement and purpose

πŸ’” Discouragement Triggers:

  • Being misunderstood as harsh • Lack of follow-through in others • Feeling micromanaged or unappreciated

πŸ”₯ Under Stress:

  • They may internalize frustration or become intense. Often, this is driven by pressure they put on themselves.

πŸ’ž How They Love:

  • Through problem-solving, responsibility, and structure. They give selflessly, often without expecting recognition.

πŸ‘₯ In Groups:

  • Natural planners and leaders who strive for excellence. They benefit from reminders to pause, listen, and offer grace.

πŸ€” Common Misunderstandings:

  • They may seem overly serious or controlling, but deep down, they care deeply — and are often their own toughest critics.

πŸ™ Spiritual Strengths:

  • Conviction • Vision • Integrity • Structure • Passion for righteousness

πŸ’¬ How to Encourage Them:

  • Offer sincere, specific affirmations. Respect their drive, and acknowledge their faithfulness — especially in private, thoughtful ways.

⚠️ Temperament Traps:

  • Perfectionism • Emotional isolation • Striving without rest • Trusting results over the Spirit

➡️ Transformational Goal:

  • To shift from rigid self-reliance to Spirit-led excellence — letting grace shape their goals, guide their relationships, and govern their pace.

πŸ› Prayer Focus for Today:

  • Pray that our Melancholic/Choleric sisters would experience softened hearts, gracious leadership, and peace in the midst of pressure. May God lift the weight of unrealistic expectations and fill them with joy in the process — not just the outcome.

πŸ’¬ Today’s Blog Reflections:

From reading and reflecting on today’s blend, share with us the following:

  1. πŸ’‘ What is one thing you learned that will help you relate more thoughtfully to someone with this blend?

  2. 🌿 If this is your blend, what personal insight or “aha moment” stood out to you from today’s reading?

  3. πŸ™ Write a short prayer — either for those with this blend or for yourself if you identify with it.

πŸ“© Share your response on the blog — your words may be the encouragement someone else needs today. πŸ’–

Let’s continue growing — in wisdom, in love, and in the grace of our Lord.

We’re better together. 🌸

Reading about the Melancholic/Choleric gave me such an impression of Excellence. I really admire this blend

Today I learnt that self- criticism is high in this blend so I just want to send an encouragement that Psalm 139:14 says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. God cares about you a GREAT DEAL

And it's true they can seem rigid and a bit firm lol but they have the biggest heart,
I think this has open my understanding of Sis T more and when I fail to deliver or forget πŸ˜‚.

    Dear Lord
I lift up sis Cindy, Sis Glenda and sis Theresa up to you this morning and Lord as they continue to learn more about themselves I pray Lord that they will continue to lean on your strength and your understanding. May they rest in you always.
Lord we Thank you for these sisters who are deeply reflective but also movers and shakers, may you grant them the grace for themselves and for others. Lord continue to open doors for them in their true calling.Amen

    Happy Friday to you all.

    Melancholic/Choleric Blend

Wow! What a vast amount of knowledge I got this morning.
Although, I don’t know Sisters Cindy and Glenda on a personal level, at the same time I appreciate the information received here this morning about these three sisters.
As I read about their blend, I definitely saw sister Theresa.πŸ˜ƒ
This part really stood out to me:

“This powerful blend can make her a force for good—one who not only sees what needs fixing but has the strength and strategy to do something about it. Yet, beneath the strong exterior often lies a quiet storm of inner expectations, silent pressures, and deep convictions”

    I say amen to this.
I’ve seen how my temperament have easily misunderstood her.

Sister Theresa, I’m so sorry for judging you without knowing the true you. I come to realize we need each blend to help shape and form us into the community God placed us in.
What I’m learning so far is helping me reprogram my mindset about the different sisters and their temperaments.

Sister Cindy and Glenda, I encourage you to never allow Frustration to rise whenever your plans are disrupted. 😊

    Prayer:
Father, this morning I commit sisters Theresa, Cindy and Glenda into your loving hands.
Help them to know they are loved and appreciated by You and their brothers and sisters in the faith. Help them to be open to the warm embrace of others. ❤️

Please give them the ability to lead graciously in the role You have called them in. Whenever they face hardship, grant them Your peace. God please lift the weight of unrealistic expectations they might have and fill them with Your joy knowing their strength comes from You.

    Bless them today I pray.
    In Jesus name Amen πŸ™

    Have a Fantastic Day ❤️❤️

  5. Good day everyone, Happy Friday!!
    Melancholic/Choleric

WOW!! I felt like I’ve just read about myself and wished everyone else could see this and understand... “oh, so this is who she is, now I get it!”

“She is analytical and reflective, yet determined and action-oriented. This powerful blend can make her a force for good—one who not only sees what needs fixing but has the strength and strategy to do something about it. Yet, beneath the strong exterior often lies a quiet storm of inner expectations, silent pressures, and deep convictions.” – This is so ME!!.

What personal insight or “aha moment” stood out to you from today’s reading? - To answer this question is to copy back everything written above, but I’ll put it like this.

I am often seen as too disciplined, rigid, emotionally distant at times, like things in order and have high expectations, sometimes being misunderstood as harsh or even controlling, I get frustrated when things don’t go as it should then internalize my frustration and put unnecessary pressure on myself. But above all , my intensions are pure and always want to best for others, I give selflessly, most times without expecting anything in return or recognition.

Dear lord, thank You for the gift of vision, discipline, and the desire to bring excellence into all I do. But Lord, You know how easily I carry the weight of perfection and sometimes grow tired from pushing so hard. Teach me to release control when it becomes a burden and to trust that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. Calm my racing thoughts and soften my sharp words. Remind me that I don't always have to be right. Let me lead with wisdom, but also with compassion. In my drive, give me direction and in my planning, give me peace. And in all things Lord, help me reflect Your character more than my own. Amen.

      Happy Friday 🌺

      Learning about the Melancholic/ Choleric

      Sisters Cindy Glenda & Theresa
I think this is an interesting blend that you all carry .
I happen to know Sister Cindy very well , and everything just happened in Gods timing , because I remember a time when I felt like we were not meshing anymore and then came sister Gale with the different temperaments and I remember sending the questions to her to determine her temperament only to find she is melancholic, so with that I was able to approach her differently, and from that time up until now I believe our friendship has grown exceptionally well because we now know how to approach each other ..

One thing I learn about that blend too is how analytical they can be sister Theresa I may not be able to speak for you but for my other two sisters I proceed with care and take time to hear them out ..

The “Aha”for me was two words
      Perfectionist and striving without rest
They will stop at nothing to get things done ..

      My prayer for my sisters
Heavenly Father I thank you for my sisters in Christ , father you have crafted them in your own image and likeness and because of that they are able to function according to your calling , father lord in areas where they may be misunderstood or feel unappreciated please give them that comfort knowing that you knitted them even before they were born , help them to love selflessly amd give them the assurance that you are with them always even when times are tough
This I pray in your name
      Thank you lord
      Amen .

    3. Sister Alanda, I remember that moment clearly. I thank God we didn’t give up but took the time to understand each other even before we started learning about our temperament. Now it’s even clearer to us we can navigate this, and not only with our blends but all of them.

  7. So wonderful to read your reflections, Sister Cindy and Sister Theresa! It’s such a blessing to hear how you’re connecting with the descriptions of your temperament. Recognizing your growth areas is a powerful step — it gives clarity on what to bring before the Lord in prayer. Let’s continue striving to be Christlike in all we do, refusing to settle or wallow in areas needing growth. Transformation is possible!

A heartfelt thank you to Sisters Jesmyn, Debbie, Deborah, and Alanda for thoughtfully sharing what you’ve learned about this temperament blend. Your insights are valuable and inspiring.

Let’s all remember to bear with one another in love, just as the Word instructs us:

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
    — Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)

We’re growing together — with grace, patience, and purpose.

  9. Hello everyone!

I love all the responses so far and I really enjoyed learning about the Melancholic/Choleric temperament. The ladies with this blend are true achievers and through the leading of the Holy Spirit, you are capable of doing great work for the kingdom of God!

Working closely with Sis Theresa on numerous events/committees in church, I have seen her strengths in action! She is truly "Disciplined, Focused, Principled, Productive , Deeply committed to truth and excellence". When Sis Theresa says she will do something, you don't have to check up on her - she WILL get it done! I admire and appreciate that quality about her!

One thing I learned that will help me relate more thoughtfully with Sis T is that
Though I haven't hard the privilege of getting to know Sis Glenda and Sis Cindy on a deeper level, I can imagine that are also very dependable and committed to excellence as well. Observing Sis Glenda in Bible Studies, you can tell she is someone who focused and principled! So I encourage both ladies to continue to strive for excellence while wholeheartedly trusting God.

As a melancholic, I understand how loud that 'inner critic' can be at times, but I encourage you ladies to 'tune out' the inner critic and 'increase the volume' on what God says about you!

  11. Hi Ladies
After carefully reading about the blend of Melancholic/Choleric, it gives me a clear understanding. I have learned quite a few things about this interesting blend.
The one thing that stood out: They seem overly serious or controlling, but deep down, they care deeply and are often their own critics. Ladies, I know now that you do care for others even though you may seem serious or controlling.
Heavenly Father, tonight I pray for Sister Theresa, Sis Glenda and Sis Cindy, that you will help them to be easy on themselves, and not to be their own critic. Lord God, you see the heart that strives so hard to do right, so serious, so strong and yet tired. Remind them, Lord, that their seriousness is not a flaw, but a strength when surrendered to you Soften their heart with joy and fill them with your peace that quiet their soul. Thank you Lord, for my sisters as they continue to work in their temperament, let them know that they are loved by you and the people who understand them. In your mighty name.
    Have a peaceful night.

    Melancholic/Choleric Blend
Temperament Topic: Strength with Surrender Yielding the Melancholic/Choleric Blend to the Holy Spirit

I can only say "WOW"(In the voice of Anthony)
This is just like reading my very own journal, as I express my inner thoughts. It is a true reflection of who I am, the way I think and operate.

During the study of the Temparement, I was able to identify with My blended sisters ' Theresa and Cindy. I was also able to see how my actions may have affected others, and even put myself in the their shoes, and made efforts to change how I respond to them in certain situation.

One of the points which aha' me was
    "Why Yielding Matters:
This blend often feels responsible for “making things happen.” But true transformation begins when they move from performance to dependence on God. Yielding to the Holy Spirit brings rest, softens their intensity, and fills their leadership with grace."

This type of consciousness was lacking indeed, as it was overshadowed by my need or drive for perfection. However, I heard the voice of Lady Wisdom as she called out to me from behind the danger line, instructing me to shift my focus from a state of performance oriented, to becoming more dependent on God, leading with grace, while yielding to the Holy Spirit, in our quest to acquire true transformation.

Lord today I bring myself and my blended sisters, Theresa and Cindy before you, Lord I ask you to help us to be more like you, help us to listen to the voice of Lady Wisdom, as she fill us with the understandiing that we can only experience true transformation when we shift from our own way of thinking and operating. May we find strength as we depend solely on you, God for leadership and guidancein everything concerning us
This I ask in Jesus name Amen.

Thanks for all the prayers and comments ladies,
