E — Eternal
Welcome. Pause for a moment. You do not have to settle every question about tomorrow before spending these quiet moments with God.
Perhaps you have found an old photograph tucked inside a book. You recognise the faces, the room, the small details you had almost forgotten. For a moment, a whole season of life returns to you.
So much has changed since that picture was taken. Children have grown. Familiar routines have given way to new ones. Some memories bring a smile; others stir a tender ache.
Our lives move through seasons. God has been present through them all, and His life has no beginning or end.
Many words beginning with E can help us praise God. Today, we will linger over one: Eternal.
Scripture: Psalm 90:1–2
A truth to hold: Because God is Eternal, I can trust Him through changing seasons and place my future in His hands.
P — Pray
“Lord, lift my eyes beyond what is temporary. Help me know You as the Eternal God and trust Your wisdom with what I cannot yet understand. Teach me to receive this day with gratitude. Amen.”
R — Read
“from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”
— Psalm 90:2, ESV
Psalm 90 begins with God as a place of refuge across generations. Before the world existed, He was already God. He will remain God beyond every season we can imagine.
Psalm 102:25–27 contrasts a creation that wears out with the God whose life never ends. Hebrews 13:8 also assures us of the enduring constancy of Jesus Christ.
O — Observe
God’s eternal life has no starting point and no ending point. He is the Creator; His existence does not depend on the world He made.
These passages also reveal His constancy. Time brings change to creation, but God remains Himself.
Psalm 33:11 adds another assurance: God’s purposes endure across generations. We can entrust our changing circumstances to His lasting wisdom.
M — Meditate
We feel the passing of time. We wait for answers, notice what has changed, and wonder what lies ahead. God’s eternity gives us someone steadfast to turn to in all of it.
Trusting Him does not require you to understand why an answer seems slow or why a season has been difficult. You can bring Him those questions while resting in the truth that His life and wisdom reach beyond your own.
What changing or uncertain part of your life would you like to entrust to the Eternal God?
P — Practice
Bring one concern about the future before God. Ask for wisdom about what is yours to do today, and leave what is beyond your reach in His care.
In Psalm 90:12, the prayer turns towards living our limited days wisely. One faithful response may be giving someone your full attention, keeping a commitment, or making room for prayer.
Let your response include praise:
“Lord, I praise You because You are Eternal. You were God before my life began, and You remain God beyond all I can see. Teach me to honour You with the time You have given me.”
T — Treasure
Truth to Treasure: My seasons change. The Eternal God remains, and I can trust Him with my life.
Because God is Eternal, I can ____________________.
Pause in thanksgiving:
“Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness through the seasons I have already lived. Thank You that the future is known to You. Help me receive today as a gift and trust You with tomorrow.”
S — Share
What encourages you about knowing that God is Eternal?
You are welcome to share a thought in the comments, complete “Because God is Eternal…”, or simply type “Amen.”
A thought to carry with you
When an old photograph reminds you how much life has changed, let it also remind you of the God who remains. The season in that picture has passed, but His life has no end. You can turn to Him in the season you are living now.
Ask God to… steady your heart, help you use today wisely, and deepen your trust in His enduring faithfulness.
God is Eternal. I can trust Him through every season.
Carry this truth with you in the days ahead.
Love God.
Love Others.
Stay the Course in the Word.
