A Journey Through the Attributes of God in Prayer
Week 1 — A: Almighty
Warm greetings, dear sisters.
Welcome to the beginning of our A–Z Praises to God journey. I am so glad you are here.
As we step into this first week together, my prayer is that this will not simply be another study, but a meaningful time of drawing closer to the Lord—learning who He is and responding to Him in praise.
We begin with A — Almighty—a powerful reminder that nothing is too hard for God. Whatever you may be carrying, facing, or wondering about, He is able. (What a timely reminder.)
As you move through this week, take your time. There is no pressure to do everything perfectly. Come with an open heart, and allow the Lord to meet you where you are.
Whether you follow the suggested flow, complete it in one sitting, or return to it throughout the week, may this be a time of refreshing, strengthening, and deepening your relationship with Him.
Let us begin.
How to Use This Study
This study is meant to help you spend meaningful time with God, not to feel heavy or burdensome. You are welcome to use it in the way that best fits your schedule and season.
You may choose to follow the suggested weekly flow and move through it little by little during the week. You may begin on another day if Sunday or Monday does not work well for you. Or, if you prefer, you may set aside about an hour and do the full study in one sitting.
The day breakdown is simply there to give structure and make the study feel more manageable. Please feel free to use it in the way that helps you draw near to the Lord most sincerely.
You may also wish to consider setting aside one day each week to fast, as you are able, and use that week’s PROMPTS study as your guide during your time with the Lord. This is completely optional, but it can be a beautiful way to slow down, focus your heart, meditate on His Word, and praise Him more intentionally.
Whether you spread it out through the week, complete it in one sitting, or use it during a fast day, let this study serve as a guide to help you know God more, honour Him more, and praise Him more personally.
Take your time with each section. There is no need to rush. Let each truth lead you into praise, prayer, and reflection.
A — Almighty (El Shaddai)
“I am God Almighty; walk before Me and be blameless.” — Genesis 17:1
Focus for this week:
Seeing and trusting God as Almighty.
SUNDAY OR MONDAY
P — Prayer
As you settle down each day to begin this study, take a moment to ask the Lord to open your heart to see Him clearly and to respond to Him sincerely. Ask Him to help you know Him as He truly is, to set aside distractions, and to come before Him with discipline and reverence. These are simply suggestions—feel free to speak to the Lord from your heart as He leads you.
You are coming before the Almighty God—who sees you, knows you, and cares for you.
R — Read (Suggestion: memorize these verses. Read them aloud 2–3 times and return to them throughout the day.)
“I am God Almighty; walk before Me and be blameless.” — Genesis 17:1
“Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You.” — Jeremiah 32:17
Today’s Proverbs:
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.” — Proverbs 18:10
O — Observe
God appears to Abraham when he is 99 years old. The promise of a son has not yet been fulfilled, and Sarah is past childbearing age.
In this moment of human impossibility, God reveals Himself as El Shaddai—God Almighty, reaffirming His covenant and promising what only divine power can accomplish.

Let’s pray:
Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself to me as Almighty. Help me to remember today that nothing is too hard for You. Teach me to trust You in every situation. Amen.

TUESDAY–THURSDAY
M — Meaning
El Shaddai
- El = God, the Mighty One
- Shaddai = Almighty, All-sufficient, All-powerful
Meaning:
God is more than enough—able to supply, sustain, and accomplish what no one else can.
Commentary Insight:
Matthew Henry notes that God reveals Himself as Almighty to assure Abraham that He is fully able to fulfill His promises.
A helpful summary from biblical commentary is that by the name “God Almighty,” God reveals Himself as the One who is fully able to carry out His promises despite all human impossibilities.
P — Practice (Personal Application)
🕊️ Now respond with praise:
“Lord, I love You because You are Almighty.
I honour You because nothing is too hard for You.
You are powerful over every situation, seen and unseen.
There is no limit to what You can do, and nothing can stand against Your will.
I praise You because You are greater than every challenge I face, and I can rest in Your power.
You are more than enough in every area of my life.”
Continue in your own words:
Take a moment and continue to praise God for being Almighty.
- Tell Him why this matters to you
- Tell Him where you need His power
- Tell Him how you trust Him in your life
- Thank Him for times He has already shown His power to you (name them to Him)
- Declare your confidence in Him over what you are facing (name those situations to Him)
- Surrender anything that feels impossible to you (name it to Him)
Personal Application:
Where do you need God’s power in your life today?
Place that situation in His hands.
You may pray:
“Lord, I trust You with ________. I place it in Your hands because You are Almighty.”
Look for this today:
Where do you see God’s power at work—big or small?
Closing Prayer (Optional):
Lord, help me to trust Your power and rest in Your promises. Strengthen my faith where I feel weak, and teach me to depend on You in all things. Amen.

FRIDAY–SATURDAY
T — Thanksgiving
As you come to this time of thanksgiving, take a moment to thank the Lord for being Almighty. Thank Him that nothing in your life is beyond His power. Thank Him for the ways He has already shown Himself strong on your behalf. These are simply suggestions—feel free to thank Him in your own words for whatever is on your heart.
