Days 1-7 - A Year of Reading the Bible Together - January 1

REVISED
January 2026 Bible Reading Plan

Four Voices, One Story: A Year Reading the Bible Together

Old Testament: Creation & Covenant
New Testament:  Christ & Kingdom
Psalms:  Prayer
Proverbs:  Wisdom
—every day

Let’s begin this year rooted in God’s Word—one intentional day at a time. Throughout January (or whenever you’re able), follow the daily reading plan:

  • Old Testament: 2 chapters

  • New Testament: 1 chapter

  • Psalms: 1 chapter

  • Proverbs: 1 chapter (matching the date)

“The Word of God is living and powerful.” — Hebrews 4:12

As you read, come with expectation and an open heart. God’s Word strengthens faith, renews the mind, and draws us closer to Him. Let it shape your thoughts, guide your decisions, and deepen your walk with Him throughout the year.

📌 Stay Accountable
Spiritual growth is stronger in community. On the days you read—especially Proverbs—simply share that you read in your group chat (Grenada or Toronto). Feel free to post a verse or brief reflection that blessed you—your insight may encourage someone else that day.

Let’s journey together
— one day, one chapter, one step closer to God.

Days 1–7 Synopsis — God Speaks, and the Story Begins

The first seven days of reading introduce us to a God who speaks, creates, pursues, teaches, and invites. From the opening words of Genesis to the wisdom of Proverbs, we see that faith begins not with human effort, but with God’s initiative.

Genesis shows God bringing order out of chaos and purpose out of nothing. Humanity is created in God’s image, yet quickly turns away. Even so, God responds not by abandoning His creation, but by pursuing people with mercy and promise. As sin spreads, God begins His covenant plan through Abram, showing that redemption is already underway.

Matthew reveals that this same God enters history in Jesus Christ. He comes with authority, compassion, and clarity—calling people to repentance, trust, and obedience from the heart. Through teaching and example, Jesus defines a kingdom built on humility, righteousness, and faithfulness rather than power or performance.

The Psalms give voice to the human response. We hear prayers of trust, fear, confidence, and repentance, learning that God welcomes honest hearts. These psalms remind us that the blessed life is rooted in God, even in distress.

Proverbs grounds everything in wisdom for daily living. From the beginning, we are reminded that choices matter, paths lead somewhere, and listening to God brings protection and life.

Together, Days 1–7 show us this truth:

  • God speaks first.
  • Humanity responds imperfectly.
  • God remains faithful.

This opening week invites us not just to read Scripture, but to listen—to let God’s voice shape our understanding, trust, and daily walk as the year unfolds.

UP NEXT:

Days 8 -14 slows the pace and deepens the work. God’s promises become clearer, but waiting tests trust.

In Genesis, covenant is confirmed while faith is stretched.
In Matthew, Jesus reveals His authority through action—and following Him begins to cost something.
In the Psalms, prayers grow more honest and urgent.
In Proverbs, wisdom shapes everyday choices.

Days 8-14 reminds us:
God is always at work—even in the waiting.

God willing, visit the January 8 blog tomorrow to begin Week 2. Each day includes thoughtful questions from each book to help you pause, reflect, and listen as you read. As you’re able, set aside un-rushed time to sit with Scripture and allow God’s Word to speak to your heart.

Blessings to all!
